My Black Hair Memoirs: Kirah

✨ with @hmmkiki and their advice for the next generation “Save and travel from as early as you can. I have found no better enjoyment of money than buying a flight and eating food in said country while meeting locals. Travel has allowed me to come out of my box as my introversion disappears from the moment I land. I love the confidence it gives, as it slowly translates back in England. But saving to travel is key to shaping you for this diverse world we live in (learning another language is great too). Being a black traveller has ups and downs but I have matured and bettered my life more by living abroad and travelling now that I'm back in the UK. Don't let colour stop you, it'll thicken your skin for sure and you'll hear idiots. The voice of a few rocks shouldn't deter you from getting to know the other great souls that country has to offer. Something I learnt after several "oo there's a black girl" moments. Ultimately, I'd say to my younger brethren to: 1. SAVE and take stock as to where it's going. Be intentional. 2. Travel. As affordably as you can, do not stunt for nobody. 3. Invest in yourself, health and relationships. That involves forgiveness, love, purpose, reflection, intimacy, building and so much more!”
